Chilly in north overnight A band of rain spreads east across the British Isles, bringing a spell of generally light rain to most areas, though far southern England should remain largely dry. Behind this, plenty of showers develop across Ireland and western Scotland, some turning heavy and perhaps wintry over higher ground. Highs of 19C in the southeast but only around 8C in the northwest. During the evening most showers across the west will gradually clear, leaving only a few lingering over the Northern Isles. Further west, however, cloud will thicken with some light rain arriving across Ireland overnight into Friday. Minimum temperatures of 7C in the south, falling to -1C in the north.
